SEA Executive Committee Activities - December
SEA representatives meet monthly with District 200 Administrators. The December meeting included discussions about:
- Transition tours for parents of students with IEPs
- Encouraging parents of 7th and 8th grade students to participate in visitation days
- Individual visitation for parents who miss regularly scheduled dates
- Testing accommodations for EXPLORE and placement tests
- How freshmen parents know who their child's case manager (CM) is
- Putting 9th grade transition "Parent Panel" into the regular schedule each fall.
SEA representative meet monthly with District 97 Administrators. The December meeting included discussions about:
- Teacher selection/evaluation
- Upcoming workshops for parents about measurement and tracking
- Follow-ups to may meeting including: "Is your Child Struggling" brochure; Extended School Year (ESY); IEP meeting process; Parent survey, Regular communication to parents
- RTI norming data
- Director of Special Ed and Assistant Director of Special Ed visiting offsite and district schools
- Accommodations for twice exceptional kids for outside testing
- Training versus certification of staff in reading intervention programs
- District guidelines for OT services
- Parent training concerning new IEP format
SEA Representatives also serve on the following committees:
- D97 Advisory Committee on Special Education
- D97 Diversity Leadership Network
- D97 Mid Level Oversight Committee and two of the Action teams (Curriculum, Transitions and Academic Structures)
