SEA members,

Earlier this fall, members of the executive committee of SEA met with
Dr. Collins, Dr. Anderson and Steve Castle to discuss accountability
for school staff to ensure that IEP's are well written and that they
are implemented. One result of this discussion is that a systematic
way of discovering where the successes and problem areas exist needed
to be put in place.

To that end, SEA has developed a reporting mechanism for members to use
when they experience either negative or positive issues related to IEP
development or implementation. The information gathered will be shared
with Dr. Anderson and Steve Castle in monthly meetings in order to
highlight areas where progress is being made or where accountability
issues remain. To complete the form, click on the link under Feedback Forms on the right-hand side of this page.

PLEASE NOTE: Submitting an issue here DOES NOT replace reporting the
issue yourself using the guidelines found on the Districts website at
http://www.op97.org/sped/IssueResPg.htm. Information gathered through
this form will be used only to highlight trends and patterns.

Each month we will look at a particular aspect of the IEP process and review important terms, regulations, best practices, and actions parents can and should take to assure a positive outcome. The complete schedule for the 2006-07 school year can be found on the sidebar under Year of the IEP.
